Jones Mill Trail Mega Cleanup - April 28th, 2018

Partnering with FLHSP are TN Environmental Council (TEC), Cumberland River Compact and TN Valley Authority (TVA)

Start with an early carpool from Providence at Mt. Juliet near Kroger's to Jones Mill Mt Bike trailhead. Cars with 3 or more people will be allowed to park at the trailhead as there is strictly limited parking. Be sure to pick up a friend (or new friends at carpool point) and register ahead of time at the link below.Volunteers will receive an event T-shirt, snacks, lunch, water and swag if pre registered. Registering also provides you with notification and updates if weather becomes an issue.

This cleanup is located on the trail extension (aka the new Blue trail), from the trail to the lakeshore for a mile total. Walk in is approximately 1.25 miles to Bald Knob to begin. Early birds will get a boat ride to the farthest point to start from that area and clean while walking back to Bald Knob on the original mountain bike trail. Boating arrangements are very limited first come first served.

There are well over 150 tries to remove with lots of trash, be strong and eat your Wheaties!!

  • Lunch will be served at noon
  • We will supply the trash bags, gloves and a few trash grabbers will be available
  • Don't forget to wear insect repellent and protection from sun
  • Wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty
  • Bring a refillable water holder

Garbage will be toted out by TEC from the shore to the dumpsters (thanks, Long Hunter St. Park) on Bryant Grove Boat Ramp. Trash will be evaluated for source and weighed by TEC. Bridgestone will be collecting the tires we remove.

Come and see the newest trail at Long Hunter and restore the beautiful habitat! Earth Month feels so good!
